A little more about Chiropractic care:

The human brain communicates through the body’s nervous system, sending messages through our spinal column, so it’s easy to see how taking care of this conduit of messages to every single part of our bodies is so important. Routine chiropractic care is vital to maintaining good overall health and regularly visiting  can have a significant positive impact on your overall well-being. The objective of this chiropractic treatment is to reduce the subluxation, with the goals of increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritability and improving function. Management/Relief of:

  • Extremity Adjustments — The extremities consist of the hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. The extremity joints consist of the same tissue types and joint capsules as those found in the spinal column. They are composed of articular cartilage, ligamentous tissue, tendons, muscle tissue, and fluid (synovium). Therefore, they tend to suffer from the same types of conditions, namely strains, sprains, degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis) and repetitive trauma. These joints also benefit from chiropractic manipulation, as well as soft tissue therapies, such as massage, active, and passive release techniques, as well as various forms of mobilization. Great results can be achieved with a combination of chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue therapies. The following is a list of some of the conditions that often benefit from extremity manipulation and soft-tissue therapies:
  • Sprains / strains
  • Knee strains / sprains
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Tendonitis
  • Carpal tunnel
  • Golfers and little-leaguers elbow
  • Rotator cuff problems
  • Foot problems / plantar fascitis
  • Congential hip dysplasia
  • Improve Nervous System Function
  • Relieve Prenatal Discomfort
  • Increase Vitality / Quality of Life
  • Provide Preventative Care
  • Improve Overall Health: children and adults
  • Ultrasound — This treatment uses sound waves to generate heat within a body part. Ultrasound involves a sound head or something that you would see similar in a doctor’s office where they do sonograms on pregnant women, and they put a little gel on the sound head and your body part. And, in a circular motion, we just rub the sound head on, say, your shoulder joint, and what that will do is generate heat in that joint, which will help with overall blood flow circulation. It will also help loosen up tissues to allow them to respond better to stretch or any other manual techniques that the therapist will be using such as to loosen up tight joints or tight muscles. It also helps prepare the body part for just general activity before exercise. Ultrasound can also be help increase blood flow so that way inflammation or swelling can be reduced.
  • Electric Stem — This treatment is unit is used for pain management and control. This is the most common practice found in physical therapy. This treatment helps provide pain relief by sending small electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the skin to underlying nerve fibers. Electrical stimulation units use an electrical current to simulate the same electrical impulses that are activated during normal exercise. This increases blood flow and healing by passively activating the muscle, the body responds in much the same way as during normal exercise. By placing a pair of electrodes on the target muscle or muscle group, the unit can send electrical impulses through the skin to underlying nerves, stimulating the contraction and relaxation of the muscle in a rhythm similar to daily exercise. Electrical Stimulation is  used for two primary functions; increasing blood flow, healing, and pain control.
  • Active and Passive Muscle Stretching Techniques — This treatment will strengthens muscles and decrease muscle trigger points. What does this mean? How will this help me? This stretching technique are commonly used in the athletic and clinical environments to enhance range of motion with the ultimate goal being to optimize motor performance and rehabilitation. This form of stretching stretching is considered the most effective stretching technique when the aim is to increase range of motion.
  • Relaxation Muscle Therapy — This treatment releases muscle tension by applying gentle pressure to the area of the body. This therapy is very helpful to tension headaches and is commonly used for people who sit for long periods at a computer desk. This treatment is included in the basic care plan.
